Norrbotniabanan

The Norrbotniabanan is a new railway between Umeå and Luleå that enables faster, safer and more environmentally friendly travel and transport.

In Umeå, the track runs from the city centre to the municipal boundary with Robertsfors, via Sävar and Gryssjön. Veidekke is our client on this project and we are responsible for the rock excavation work.

In total, around 400,000 cubic metres of solid rock will be drilled and blasted. The work involves the precise blasting of slopes along the entire route with closely spaced contour lines, and all blasting is carried out using electronic detonators.
