Norrbottens Bergteknik is involved in one of Sweden’s largest and most climate-smart industrial projects – Regenergy Frövi. In Frövi, just north of Örebro, a 21-hectare cultivation area has been established, 10 hectares of which consist of greenhouses that utilise waste heat from Billerud’s industrial operations.
The 10-hectare cultivation facility is expected to utilise around 50 GWh of waste heat and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 12,400 tonnes per year.
Norrbottens Bergteknik was responsible for the rock excavation work during the construction of the facility. In total, approximately 350,000 m³ of rock was blasted and crushed over a period of around six months.
